Animals, Plants, Truth, and the Wilderness
Fara Caimon is also known as the Child of the Wilds. She is guardian of the beasts, protector of the wilds, and savior of the forest folk. Fara is typically good, lighthearted, and naive; but she is extremely protective of the things she cherishes. While she may have the naivety of a child, she can be the most ferocious of all the gods. Her childish nature and the raw power she possesses can lead to extremely dangerous situations should you upset her.
Fara's has more support from the denizens of the wilds than any of the other gods, and even some from the more civilized areas of the realms. Though her most devoted followers recognize her naivety as a simple truth of how life should be. Those who devote their lives to her, have more often than not, been abused by those in powerful positions.
"All empires soon crumble to dust. We need only wait." "There is no need to lie. The animals never lie." "You should laugh more. You will learn a lot."
Common Phrases used by Followers of Fara Caimon
Threats to Fara herself are non-existent, but threats to her followers and the wilds are near endless. Her forests are cut down by the civilized, hunters kill or capture her beasts, slave traders capture and sell the forest folk, and adventurers cause unnecessary destruction all over the wilds. Fara takes each such act as a personal threat and attempts to stop as many as possible, but sadly cannot stop it all.
Fara's has more goals than she can control thanks to her naive nature. She wants to protect everything, but cannot. She tends to focus on protecting the forests and its denizens, though if needed she will go out of her way to protect outside of the wilds. She spends some of her time placing runes of protection in important locations in the wilds or upon important beasts of the wilds. Take great care should you stumble upon one of her runes.
Throughout her life, Fara has learned the benefit of organization and getting help from others. To help her protect the wilds and its denizens, Fara selects those that she believes share her interests, and imbues them with a rune. How Fara picks those she imbues with a rune is still undetermined, but it does seem as though Fara has the ability to see the true intents of a person's heart. Those that Fara imbue with a rune are known as her Runebearers
The Runebearers are hand-picked by Fara Caimon and rewarded with a rune of incredible power, no matter if they are man or beast. Those imbued with her rune are granted incredible knowledge, power, and protections in exchange for devoting their lives to protecting the wilds. They are allowed to live with their families within the wilds, but must come to her calling at any time. The beasts she imbues with her rune are granted the ability to understand and sometimes even speak with others through various languages.
The nature of the beasts is merely to survive. They do not gain joy from the pain of others. That cruelty is reserved for the true savages. Those that would call themselves "civilized".
Mantra of the Runebearers
Most temples to Fara Caimon exist in the Wilds or in the outskirt villages of a kingdom. These temples are typically overrun with vines and roots and carved from solid slabs of rock and stone.
There are several extremely wild areas throughout the realms that Fara has blessed with one of her runes and are considered Holy Sites to Fara. The few known Holy Sites are:
the Mistwood Forest in Oleun
Sirval's Woods in Oleun
the Forestheart Grove in Kila'Rugg
the Battlegrounds in Lanasteh
Rune of the Wilds No known physical artifacts exist for Fara Caimon, though almost all who worship her, consider her rune to be an artifact itself.
